1. Avoid over washing your hair: Most people have a tendency to over wash their hair. But if you must wash your hair, put a little shampoo on your fingertips and shampoo just the hairline and the roots.
2. Apply a deep conditioning treatment: When your hair is better conditioned, it will take the colour easier and help it to last longer. A deep conditioning treatment also protects your hair from the damage caused by the chemicals present in hair colour.
3. Get an oil massage: Massage your scalp with oil once a week, brush it into the hair and then wash it out in the morning. This results in more elasticity, shine and longer lasting colour.
4. Use cool water in the shower: Colorists swear that hot water fades shades, while cool keeps color in place.
5. Beware of dryer heat: Too much heat can cause hair colour to oxidize and turn brassy and dull. Blow-dry as little as you can.
